A Common Framework for Reliability and Diagnostics

چکیده

Technical systems are in general not guaranteed to work correctly. They are more or less reliable. One main problem for technical systems is the computation of the reliability of a system as studied in reliability theory. A second main problem for technical systems is the problem of diagnostic, i.e. explanations why something does not work. In fact, these problems are — in some sense — dual to each other. In this paper, we will use the concept of probabilistic argumentation systems PAS for modeling the system description as well as observation and specifications of behaviour in one common framework. We show that PAS provide a framework which allows to formulate and solve reliability and diagnostic problems, and all concepts for these two problems can clearly be defined therein. Using PAS, reliability and diagnostic can be considered as dual problems. PAS offer one common strategy for computing answers to the questions in these different situations.

Systematic integrated approach to quantifying preventive diagnostics in a “smart” transport system

One of the main tasks facing all European countries for the next few years is the creation of the most dynamically organized transport sector. The constant passenger and freight traffic lead to congestions and pollutions at the transport highways, having negative impact on a person. Thus, introduction of new technologies, addressing the interrelated problems of optimizing transport flows and im...

Self-Starting Control Chart and Post Signal Diagnostics for Monitoring Project Earned Value Management Indices

Earned value management (EVM) is a well-known approach in a project control system which uses some indices to track schedule and cost performance of a project. In this paper, a new statistical framework based on self-starting monitoring and change point estimation is proposed to monitor correlated EVM indices which are usually auto-correlated over time and non-normally distributed. Also, a new ...

A statistical analysis framework for bus reliability evaluation based on AVL data: A case study of Qazvin, Iran

Reliability is a fundamental factor in the operation of bus transportation systems for the reason that it signifies a straight indicator of the quality of service and operator’s costs. Todays, the application of GPS technology in bus systems provides big data availability, though it brings the difficulties of data preprocessing in a methodical approach. In this study, the principal component an...
